Before we start our article on ways to get rid of back and neck pain, we would like to address a misconception
. Although for many people herniation of the back and neck is known as the herniation of the disc structure between the vertebrae
, in fact, when a comprehensive research is done, it has been found that not every pain felt is caused by the hernia.
Different Causes of Low Back and Neck Pain
The source of your pain may be joint origin or soft tissue origin. Research
shows that if you have a herniated disc, your disc structure may degenerate, that is, part of it may wear out. Age has an important effect on the change of this disc structure. In addition, diseases such as family history, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, smoking, diabetes (diabetes mellitus) and atherosclerosis (hardening of the inner wall of the arteries) also have negative effects on disc degeneration. Another important reason is known to be insufficient nutrition of the disc. Again, in the same study, it was said that the physical and mechanical effects of an active lifestyle on the disc are controversial. Your body, which gets stronger with regular exercise, protects your health, the more or less your body's response to pain. Usually, the first obvious complaint in herniated disc is back and leg pain. Both can be seen at the same time, or there may be back or leg pain alone. This condition, which often starts with low back pain, may be accompanied by leg pain after a while. Numbness following leg pain is also a common finding. As the leg pain becomes more pronounced over time, it may feel as if the lower back pain has decreased or disappeared. While standing in a fixed position for a long time increases the feeling of discomfort, sometimes the severity of the pain may increase with walking, even sneezing and coughing. In this case, many people with pain either protect themselves and move less, or go beyond their pain with unconscious sports. In this case, when we look at the question of whether we should move less or more, what we understand from movement is daily running. It should not be confused with rush hour or hours spent in gyms. Don't forget that your body, which gets stronger with regular exercise, protects your health, the more or less stimulation your body gives against pain.
