Intrauterine insemination is the process of releasing semen into the uterus with the help of special catheters after going through some procedures. The aim here is to bring healthy sperm as close to the fertilization site as possible.
To whom is vaccination recommended? The group for which it is most frequently recommended is patients with unexplained infertility. It is also used in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome or mild male factor, infertility caused by the cervix, vaginismus (in couples with sexual intercourse problems), men with ejaculation (inability to produce semen) and/or erection problems and early stage endometriosis (chocolate cysts). It is performed in patients with
Generally accepted for the vaccination process is that the number of forward motile sperm in the total semen should be over 5 million before preparation and over 1 million after preparation. To stimulate the ovary, your doctor may use pills (clomiphene citrate/aromatase inhibitors) or injections (exogenous gonadoropins). In the meantime, your doctor may call you at regular intervals and perform ultrasound to monitor the response of the ovaries. When the egg reaches sufficient maturity, a cracking injection is given (ovitrelle, pregnyl or choriamon). Sperms should be collected in a sterile container after 2-3 days of sexual abstinence. Sperms are prepared by the embryologist. During the vaccination process, the patient is placed on his back. A speculum is placed. Most of the time, having a half-full bladder makes the process easier. The catheter is gently inserted through the cervix and sperm is injected. After the procedure, the patient is rested on his back for 15 minutes.
Vaccination is not recommended for those with pelvic infection. Additionally, although there are different opinions during egg monitoring, if there are 3 or more ≥16 mm follicles at the time of the cracking injection and the blood estradiol level is above 1500 pg/ml, the procedure is canceled to prevent multiple pregnancies and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Sexual intercourse is prohibited.
