Drug use for dental treatment during pregnancy:
Tetracycline group antibiotics used during pregnancy cause irreversible coloring called "Tetracycline Coloration". . If expectant mothers with gum problems do not pay attention to oral care, gum problems will increase due to hormonal changes. The expectant mother with bleeding gums may avoid brushing her teeth. This causes more bacteria to accumulate on the teeth and causes swelling, redness and more bleeding in the gums. This is called "Pregnancy Gingivitis".
The gums are red, swollen, sensitive and bleeding. Pregnancy gingivitis usually begins in the 2nd month of pregnancy and reaches its peak in the 8th month. If pregnancy is planned, expectant mothers should definitely have a dentist check-up and check for any tooth and gum problems before pregnancy. It should be removed.
Oral care:
Vomiting in the first months of pregnancy, changing eating habits and hormonal changes may cause sensitivity and bleeding in the gums. Expectant mothers should not stop brushing their teeth due to bleeding.
Gingivitis can be prevented by effective care and cleaning of teeth and gums. Teeth should be brushed at least twice a day, and after every meal whenever possible. The gaps between the teeth should be cleaned with dental floss.
