SURGICAL APPLICATIONS
The scope of surgical applications generally includes wisdom tooth surgeries and implant treatments. Apart from these, various surgical procedures are performed such as soft and hard tissue augmentation, preprosthetic surgery applications, apical resection, cyst enucleations, tumor resections, and tooth extraction and tooth maintenance for impacted teeth other than 20 years of age.
WISE TOOTH EXTRACTION
Although wisdom tooth extraction is a very feared procedure, it is a surgical procedure that can be performed very comfortably by the patient if it is performed under the control of an experienced oral surgeon and adequate anesthesia is provided. The important thing is to provide anesthesia, all that remains for the patient is to help the physician by keeping his mouth open. After the operation, ice should be applied for 2 days and medications prescribed by the doctor should be used. After the stitches are removed after 1 week, most of the complaints disappear.
IMPLANT
Implant application is a much easier procedure than wisdom tooth extraction or even difficult normal tooth extractions. It is similar to placing dowels in the wall. This dowel, or implant, is usually left in the patient's mouth untouched for a 3-month osseointegration process, except for immediate loading. After 3 months, after the radiographic control, a cut tooth-shaped piece called an abutment is placed inside and the upper structure, that is, a porcelain restoration, is made by taking measurements, just like in classical crown and bridge applications. It is based on the principle of cutting the root tip and surgically cleaning the area if the infection at the root tip of the teeth does not heal after root canal treatment - after repeated root canal treatment is tried. If necessary, filling is applied to the root end. If there is no improvement after this procedure, the tooth will be extracted.
PRE-PROSTHETIC SURGICAL PROCEDURES
Preprosthetic surgical procedures are the preparation procedures performed before the prosthesis. This includes correction of sharp bones, removal of mobile soft tissues, and hard and soft tissue augmentations before total and partial dentures.
If there is not enough bone in the area when an implant is desired, autogenous, that is, bone or animal taken from the patient himself, can be used. An attempt is made to increase the bone size with graft material taken from another donor of human origin.
CYST AND TUMORS
When the presence of a cyst or tumor is detected during routine radiographic checks or due to a specific complaint, they usually need to be removed and sent for pathological examination. In rare cases, they can be left in the mouth with follow-up. Impacted teeth can also emerge from premolars or canines or even other teeth. While canines are usually maintained orthodontically, premolars are removed surgically if they cannot be maintained. During the maintenance of the canine tooth, the tooth is uncovered and a button is attached, and this button is connected to the wire to maintain the tooth.
