Sweating is the release of a salty fluid from the sweat glands. This
process is a physiological
event that helps keep the body temperature constant. Even if the temperature outside is very high, the body temperature remains constant through sweat. Sweating also helps remove various
toxins from the body.
How much we sweat, It is closely related to the number of sweat glands in our body
. A person is born with 2 to 4 million sweat
glands. With puberty, the sweat glands become completely activated. Although women have more sweat glands, men also have sweat
glands are more active.
Sweating is involuntarily
regulated by the nervous system. In short, we have no conscious control over sweating
. We sweat involuntarily when the weather is hot, when we do sports, when we make an effort, when we feel emotional states such as excitement, fear and anger.
The content of sweat; It consists of substances such as water, sodium, chlorine, potassium and urea.
The increase in the amount of organic matter in it causes the sweat to have a bad
odor.
Excessive sweating. ; is a pathological condition that we call hyperhidrosis in medicine
. Excessive sweating can be localized to one or a few areas
or widespread throughout the body. Reality Excessive sweating in the whole
body is a rare condition. Sweating, even if it is due to systemic
diseases, is usually observed more in certain areas. These areas are especially the armpits and palms. insides and soles of the feet
Causes of Excessive Sweating;
Sudden stress on the adrenal glands. Excessive sweating may occur in situations that cause stimulation by These situations are; Sudden
blood pressure drop, excessive bleeding, heart attack and heat stroke.
Systemic diseases that cause excessive sweating;
1. Infectious diseases; Especially in cases of pneumonia, malaria, tuberculosis, typhoid,
tonsil infections, fever decreases with intense sweating.
2. In hyperthyroidism, the thyroid gland may become overactive, causing excessive sweating
. High metabolic rate and increased body temperature
cause excessive sweating.
3. Low blood sugar, called diabetes or hypoglycemia
excessive sweating.
4. Cancer disease, especially cancers located around the spine
or cancers located in the mediastinum region, that is, around the breastbone
cancer, affects the sympathetic nervous system here. It causes excessive
sweating.
5. Severe heart and lung diseases also cause excessive
sweating as a result of shortness of breath.
6. The bone disease called rickets, which is seen in children due to vitamin D deficiency, also causes excessive sweating.
7. Hormonal changes due to menopause or pregnancy cause sweating along with hotness

soup can also sometimes cause sweating in the upper lip, mouth area, and chest
area.

11. Genetically inherited from the family through autosomal transmission and without any reason.
Sweating disorder is also common. It causes sweating in the hands in childhood
and in the armpits in adolescence.
TREATMENT OF EXCESSIVE SWEATING
Treatment for whole body sweating is aimed at treating the underlying disease
. As dermatologists, we are generally interested in the treatment of hand, foot and armpit sweating
. Treatments are under the headings
we can collect it.
1.Topical treatment;
It is the use of solutions or creams that usually contain aluminum chloride or aluminum hexachloride.
Sodium
bicarbonate can be used instead of deodorant. For hand sweating, aluminum chloride can be applied alone
or by covering it with plastic gloves. Topical
formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde are less preferred.
2.Iontophoresis;
Iontophoresis with tap water can be tried in cases where topical treatments are insufficient
Drionic device or Fisher unit
is used. Generally, 20 to 30 minute sessions once or twice a day are required.
If a response is received, it is continued once every 2 weeks.
3.BOTOX( Application of botulinum toxin;
The application to 4cm2 areas of the palms, soles of the feet and armpits
can reduce sweating by at least 25%. Palms
If high doses are applied during the application, complications such as difficulty in making the catching movement may occur.
The disadvantage of the method is that it is painful and expensive. Its effectiveness lasts from 6 to
7 months.
4.Systemic Treatment;
Use of anticholinergic agents such as Pro_Bantin or glycopyrrolate
may be beneficial. Doses are adjusted according to the patient's tolerance. However, side
effects may occur. It restricts the amount of sweating. Its effect on sweating lasts for 4-6 hours.
5. Surgical Treatment;
Following the excision of the skin that sweats the most in armpit sweating
It is a surgery
operation performed by removing sweat glands. Removal of the upper thoracic sympathetic nerves is also preferred in cases where there is no response to other
treatments.
6. THE LATEST SYSTEM IN SWEATING TREATMENT; GOLD NEEDLE
RADIOFREQUENCY SYSTEM
Golden needle radiofrequency system; It is a system in which there are 25 golden needles
in its head and when it comes into contact with the skin, Radiofrequency energy is transferred to the skin
under the skin.
In armpit sweating, the golden needle is inserted into the skin at a depth of 2 * 3 mm.
is applied. This level is the level where the eccrine sweat glands are located.
Thanks to the energy given through the needle, a temperature of 68-80 degrees occurs.
Due to the effect of this heat, the sweat glands are damaged. It is aimed to lose its properties
. Before the session, local anesthesia is administered and the application
starts. Afterwards, there is a rash that lasts only a few days.
Since it does not damage the skin, the patient can continue his daily life.
Permanent results are achieved by performing the application in 3 sessions, 1 month apart.
This application is currently only applied under the armpit
