As parents know very well, toilet training is one of the most important steps in child development. The most appropriate time period in this regard is between the ages of 2-3, when the child feels ready. If he overreacts to having his diaper removed or going to the toilet, he's not ready. If he doesn't feel ready yet, forcing himself may push him further away. Take toilet training off the agenda for a while and do not talk about it.
When starting toilet training, first of all, we should not forget this; Toilet training is not given with the potty, because children do not take the potty seriously and perceive it as a toy seat. For this reason, toilet training should be given with an adapter placed on the toilet. He should be on equal terms with you, that is, an adapter should be used in the toilet that he can hold on to from the sides. A riser should be placed under his feet so that his feet can touch the ground and he can feel safe.
It will be very helpful to show videos of babies receiving toilet training during this period or to give examples of cousins of the same age group around you.
You And stop the habit of using diapers as soon as your child is ready to start toilet training. Removing the diaper will create awareness in the child.
When you remove the diaper and start training, ask him if he has the toilet every 30-40 minutes. Even if he says he does not, take him to the toilet every hour and let him sit for 1-2 minutes.
Follow your child's body language closely, have him sit on the toilet when his face turns red, shakes, or holds his crotch with his hand.
Help him take off and put on his clothes so that he can go to the toilet on his own.
Flushing, using foam. Make procedures such as hand washing fun for him/her.
Give a small reward or praise after every successful action he/she performs in the toilet.
Be patient and definitely do not rush. Toilet training can start after the 24th month and continue until the age of 4. Do not give up immediately and train the child slowly without boring him.
