Whose Job Is It to Prepare a Nutrition Program?

Nowadays, everyone, whether health-related or not, offers nutrition-related prescriptions to people, tries to make them lose weight, and can endanger people's health. Just as health is a state of complete well-being, a healthy life is achieved with complete integrity. It is the physician's job to diagnose the presence or absence of any disease and apply the necessary treatment.

The dietitian takes into account the individual's age, gender, physical activity status, physical condition (height-weight), nutritional habits and disease, if any. He/she is a person who has completed at least 4 years of undergraduate education and received a Nutrition and Dietitian Undergraduate Diploma in order to prepare an adequately balanced nutrition plan that includes the foods he/she should eat according to the diet plan. In other words, it is the main job of the individual to prepare personalized nutrition plans by considering the health status of the individual as a whole.

For example, a dietitian who prepares a personalized nutrition plan can provide a gluten-restricted diet plan to an individual without a diagnosis of Celiac disease or a gluten-restricted diet plan for an individual without a diagnosis of PKU. An individual cannot/will not be prescribed a nutrition plan that is restricted from Phenylalanine.

What do I do with a dietitian?

A dietitian is responsible for growth, development and the protection of the health of all individuals throughout life. It organizes individual and collective nutrition plans and programs in line with the principles of nutrition science in order to improve nutrition and increase the quality of life.

There is a dietician wherever there are nutrients. Research, evaluation and solution generation, from purchasing to cooking, are included in this profession. The dietician has to educate, inform and follow the person according to his/her environment, economic opportunities, traditions and customs, eating habits and diseases.

The biological machine called the body must be fed with the right fuel. Nutrition plays a fundamental role in preventing diseases by optimizing organ function. It minimizes your chances of encountering related diseases by teaching adequate and balanced nutrition, which is the basic step of preventive health services in every period of life, starting from childhood.

It should not be forgotten that the nutrition plan, that is, the diet, is personal. It is planned specifically for the individual's age, gender, physical activity status, anthropometric evaluation, biochemical findings, habits and, if any, disease. A plan that works 100% for someone else may not have the same benefit for you and may negatively affect your health.
