There are connection veins between the superficial system and the deep system, which pierce the muscles along the leg. These veins carry valves within themselves and allow blood to flow unidirectionally from the superficial to the deep system.
If these valves do not work well, varicose veins originating from these areas may occur. Especially in those with varicose ulcers/wounds, problems with these veins must be solved. For this reason, determining the location of these veins before surgery, determining whether there is a leak and whether it is really at the source of the problem is a must for varicose vein treatment planning. For this reason, it is very important to evaluate Doppler Ultrasonography and create a vascular map before surgery.
- Marking is required before surgery.
- If there is a wound, the wound area should be scanned and evaluated very well.
- The marked areas are opened with a small incision. The connecting vein between the muscles is found and connected. The incision is usually closed with stitches.
- In appropriate cases, laser catheters developed for this vein can be used to close it.
