Meeting, Dirty Obsession - Cleaning Compulsions
The person thinks that his body and hands are dirty, that he may catch a germ or virus and that he will transmit these germs to others, so he starts washing his hands frequently for a long time. Sometimes the person begins to wash his hands so frequently that he spends hours at the sink and his hands become irritated. He needs to take off the clothes he wears outside as soon as he gets home. Sometimes he forces other members of the family to wash their hands and change their clothes. He cleans the house in detail over and over again.
Sometimes he thinks that he will be infected with viruses or germs from birds or animals outside, and thinks that the only way to eliminate these thoughts is to do detailed cleaning. However, no matter how much cleaning one does, after a while thoughts of getting dirty again or contaminated with germs arise and the need to wash hands and clean again arises.
Doubt Obsession and Control Compulsion.
The person He thinks that the door, stove and gas must have been left on and checks them again and again. However, after each check, the thought of "what if it was left open" occurs in his mind and he checks again. The person has difficulty leaving the house due to doubts in his/her mind. Obsessions of doubts such as "What if I harm others or hurt them unintentionally" may occur. Compulsive obsessions such as "I wonder if I will harm my child" cause the person to hide all the sharp tools at home or throw them out of the house, but these behaviors do not relieve the person and negative thoughts and doubts re-occur. Disturbing sexual thoughts pass through his mind for hours and he blames himself for these thoughts. Sexual acts that he does not want or find inappropriate for him constantly occupy his mind. Will I lose control and commit a sexual act against my close friends or relatives? Anxious thoughts such as these cause the person to distance himself from society.
Religious Obsessions
Impossible thoughts and actions come to mind while they are performing their religious worship. For example, while praying, unintentionally coming blasphemous thoughts prevent a person from performing his prayer peacefully, or his prayer is disrupted due to these thoughts. He may think about this and leave the prayer unfinished.
Symmetry (Order) Compulsions
Symmetry obsessions begin to dominate the person's entire life. He becomes restless and does not work because of the messy desk. He keeps all his personal belongings in a certain order. Disorder causes the person to become restless. For example, he needs to make sure his pencils are in the same alignment and to straighten items that are crooked.
Touch Compulsions
Sometimes people try to suppress their inner restlessness and distress by touching some special items. If the person leaves the house without touching this special item, he/she worries that a disaster will happen to himself or his loved ones. If he leaves the house without touching the item, the need to go back and touch this item arises, sometimes he touches this item over and over again.
Counting Compulsions
Sometimes, a person thinks that if he does his job without counting to a number, which he sees as a habit from his childhood, this will go negatively. For example, when taking exams, one starts solving questions by counting up to this number. For example, he worries that a disaster will happen to him if he does not repeat the same word 3 times.
Hoarding Compulsions
The person starts to accumulate things because of thoughts of "what if he/she will need them in the future". Sometimes he fills his house with clothes and belongings that he does not wear, such as garbage bags and glass jars.
