Nasal Congestion and Bone Curvature and Nasal Flesh Surgery

Functional rhinoplasty surgery; These are surgeries in which problems that make breathing difficult in the nose are corrected with rhinoplasty surgery. The patient needs functional rhinoplasty surgery not only for visual appearance but also to be able to breathe easily through the nose. While rhinoplasty procedures are performed in cases such as bone and cartilage curvatures in the nose, nasal flesh growths, and narrow middle roof of the nose, such problems that cause nasal congestion are also corrected. In short, patients are satisfied both in terms of breathing and aesthetics.

BONE CURVATURE SURGERY

The middle wall of the nose, which divides the nasal cavity into two, is called the septum. The middle wall of the nose consists of a cartilage and two bones. The middle wall of the nose, along with all structures of the nose, begins to develop in the womb and this development continues until the age of 17-18. After this age, the nose is considered to have stopped growing. The middle wall of the nose may bend to the right or left, or sometimes to both directions, during the development process or due to impacts. This condition is medically called septum deviation and causes nasal congestion. Apart from nasal congestion, it can cause nosebleeds, recurrent sinusitis attacks, facial pain and headaches. Treatment of this curvature in the nose is possible with nose surgery. Before septoplasty surgery is performed, other reasons such as nasal flesh growth inside the nose that may cause nasal congestion are investigated. In nasal congestion surgery, septoplasty (correction of the curvature in the nose) is usually performed along with the reduction of the nasal concha.

nasal turbinate surgery

There are three procedures in the nose, three on the right and three on the left. There are a total of 6 nose meats. Nasal concha is medically called turbinate. These nasal conchas, which we call concha, warm the air, moisten it, clean it from germs and allow us to breathe better air. However, when these nasal conchas grow, they can narrow the nasal passage and cause nasal congestion. In nasal congestion surgeries, the reduction of large nasal concha (turbinate hypertrophy) is often performed. If there are any curvatures in the nose, they are corrected in the same session.
