Wisdom teeth, also known as wisdom teeth, cannot come out completely into the mouth or can only be seen partially in the mouth due to genetically shrinking jaw bones over time.
Why should impacted wisdom teeth be removed?
Not every impacted wisdom tooth needs to be extracted. If the impacted wisdom tooth is completely impacted, if there is no cystic formation around it, if it does not cause recurrent infections, if it does not cause the tooth in front of it to decay or its root to dissolve, this tooth does not need to be extracted. This rule applies to all patients with impacted teeth. Our patient needs to have routine check-ups. However, wisdom teeth that are partially visible in the mouth and cannot be fully removed into the mouth in a proper position and cause one or more of the factors listed above must be removed.
What should be known and applied after the impacted wisdom tooth operation? ?
What needs to be done after the impacted wisdom tooth operation is not much different than after a normal tooth extraction. To list the things to consider:
- The tampon placed in the extraction area should be bitten for 30 minutes and then thrown away. The tampon should not be replaced with anything else.
- After the extraction, there may be bleeding in the form of leakage for 6-24 hours, this is normal. Spitting or rinsing the mouth should not be done during this period.
- Nothing should be eaten until the numbness after the extraction passes.
- Smoking and alcohol should not be consumed for 72 hours (3 days) as they will impair wound healing. .
- If there is medication prescribed by the physician, they should be used regularly.
- Our patient can continue normal oral care practices 24 hours after the extraction.
- Ripped stitches after the extraction procedure. If there are any stitches, they should be removed within 7-10 days at the latest.
