In vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technique used to enable mothers and fathers who have been diagnosed with infertility to have children. In IVF treatment, the egg collected from the woman and the sperm taken from the man are brought together in a glass container (petri dish) in the laboratory environment. Approximately 40 hours after the egg and sperm are put together, it is checked whether the egg is fertilized and whether cell division has begun. The fertilized eggs (embryos) are then placed in the woman's uterus. About 10-12 days after the embryos are placed in the uterus, the result is learned by performing a pregnancy test on the blood of the expectant mother.
