We are under intense bombardment about how beneficial vitamins and fish oil are to health. The vitamin side of this story ended in a complete fiasco. It has been shown that taking additional daily doses of vitamins such as A-C-E has no benefit in preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases, on the contrary, it may have some harmful side effects. The daily vitamin supplement business has been buried as of today.
However, the fish oil side of the story still continues. Fatty acids called Omega-3, which are found especially in cold water fish such as salmon, pike and trout, have been shown to reduce cardiovascular diseases, reduce sudden death, reduce blood triglyceride levels, reduce blood pressure, suppress inflammation in some rheumatic diseases, and even increase the child's intelligence when given to pregnant mothers. It is claimed to increase the rate. Frankly, many publications report positive effects that support each other. Despite all this, there are still controversial points. Although many publications report that eating fish regularly or using fish oil capsules reduces sudden death, in recent years there have also been publications reporting that this is not the case. It has been reported that fish oil capsules may be harmful through unclear mechanisms, especially in patients with advanced heart failure. On the other hand, it should be emphasized that fish oil capsules obtained from the extra-liver tissues of fish, rather than their liver, should be preferred more. Additionally, the amount of fish oil required to have a medicinal effect varies between 1-3 grams per day. Apart from this, taking one capsule a day containing 200-300 mg of fish oil available on the market has no benefit other than a sometimes pleasant (?) feeling of eating fish.
