Unfortunately, in our country, pregnancy is still perceived as a disease! For this reason, many expectant mothers may restrict themselves from natural life. Pregnancy is not a disease, it is a natural process. Going on holiday, going to the pool and sea, and swimming are all part of this natural process. For the mother's psychology and a healthy pregnancy, the mother also needs to go on vacation, swim in the sea and sunbathe.
With the increasing air temperatures in the summer months, the expectant mother must pay particular attention to fluid consumption and hygiene. During a holiday trip, at the sea or in the pool, the important thing is to balance fluid loss and hygiene. Decreased fluid during pregnancy may increase uterine contractions and lead to premature birth. For this reason, it is necessary to be very careful about fluid intake both during the journey and before and after swimming in the sea or pool.
The most frequently asked questions by expectant mothers are; “Can I go to the sea or the pool? Can I stroke? Can I tan? What kind of sunscreen should I use?..”
One of the exercises we recommend most during pregnancy is swimming, as it eliminates the effect of gravity and makes your belly more relaxed. It is especially good for back and waist pain that increases during pregnancy. Our primary choice for swimming is the sea. Nowadays, pools can be suitable for expectant mothers due to the development of various systems and hygiene being more important.
The important thing is to take a shower immediately after swimming and wear a dry swimsuit. In particular, chlorine in pools can disrupt the pH of the vagina, making it prone to infections. Taking a shower and dry swimsuit as soon as you get out of the water will prevent this. Another point to consider; No matter how good a swimmer you are, you should not swim alone. Especially if you like to open up, be sure to have someone with you. Be careful swimming in shallow areas. Cramps that increase with pregnancy can catch you in the sea, which can put you in danger.
Swimming is recommended by experts even in winter due to its positive effects during pregnancy. Of course, in pools you know and trust. For this reason, do not avoid swimming! Especially us women are very interested in sunbathing and bronzed skin. However, with your increasing and changing hormonal balance during pregnancy, sunbathing may cause permanent skin blemishes. for vitamin D synthesis While sunbathing may be good, it may cause problems for the spots to become permanent. We should avoid going out, especially when the sun is shining. You must leave before 10 in the morning or after 4 in the afternoon. It is not necessary to sunbathe for hours for vitamin D synthesis; even 10 minutes of sun exposure a day is sufficient. For this reason, we do not recommend sunbathing for tanning purposes.
As sunscreen, you can choose creams that contain at least SPF 30 and do not contain additional substances such as cortisone.
