Reflux and Gastritis

Reflux, which is frequently seen in the society, is the phenomenon of stomach contents leaking back into the esophagus. The main symptoms of reflux are heartburn, bitter water coming to the mouth, burping, chronic cough, chest pain and hoarseness. Although obesity is a risk factor for reflux, a person's lifestyle can trigger reflux. Excessive consumption of certain foods such as carbonated drinks, caffeine, chocolate, mint, onion, hot and spicy foods, fried foods; Habits such as eating fast, skipping meals, and drinking too much water with meals are effective in the formation of reflux. You can prevent reflux complaints by making a few lifestyle changes.

  • Consumption of alcoholic beverages, strong tea and coffee, and carbonated drinks should be avoided

  • Oily foods and fried foods. , onion, hot or spicy foods should be avoided

  • It is beneficial to consume acidic fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, tomatoes and citrus fruits in small amounts and during the day.

  • Chocolate and fresh mint consumption should be avoided

  • Very hot and very cold foods should not be consumed

  • Meals should be spaced frequently. It should be consumed little and slowly

  • To reduce the meal volume, water and liquids should be consumed between meals, not with meals. Water consumption should continue until half an hour before the meal and 1 hour after the meal.

  • One should not lie down immediately after eating, but should be in an upright position.

  • Eating should be stopped 3 hours before bedtime.

  • Tight-fitting clothes should not be worn, corsets and tight belts that put pressure on the abdomen should not be used.

  • The pillow should be raised 15-20 cm while sleeping.

  • Brisk exercise should not be done on a full stomach immediately after a meal.

  • If it causes discomfort, consumption of raw vegetables and salads can be consumed at noon, not in the evening.

  • If there is a weight problem, weight should be lost to reduce the pressure in the diagram.

  • Avocado and steamed red beet can be added to the diet as they are foods that are good for the stomach.
