ORTHOGNATIC SURGERY

. Proper alignment of teeth is possible with orthodontic treatments. However, abnormal conditions in the jaw
cannot be corrected in adult patients and orthodontic treatment remains inadequate. In such
cases, a maxillofacial surgeon or a plastic surgeon and your orthodontist can work together to correct this severe anomaly.
IN WHICH CASES IS SURGICAL TREATMENT APPLIED?
• The lower jaw is forward
/> • Lower jaw being behind
• Upper jaw being forward
• Upper jaw being behind
• Facial asymmetry
• Excessive exposure of upper jaw teeth

ORTHOGNATIC SURGERY

The operation is performed by a plastic surgeon. Your surgery takes place under general anesthesia and in a fully equipped
hospital. After the operation, you will stay in the hospital for approximately 2-3 days. Then the patient is discharged
. Your brackets are not removed at the time of surgery, and the jaws are fixed with elastics attached to your brackets during the healing period. After the healing period, your orthodontic treatment will continue for approximately 2-3 months. Orthognathic surgical operations must be performed by an experienced team. In this way, a patient who undergoes the operation pays for both orthodontics and the operation.
