Hpv vaccines are protein vaccines produced with recombinant DNA technology. These are vaccines developed against HPV types 6, 11, 16 and 18. HPV types 16 and 18 are responsible for 70% of cervical cancer. Types 6 and 11 are responsible for 90% of genital warts.

Who Can Get HPV Vaccines?

Vaccines are recommended for girls/women aged 9-26. The ideal age is considered to be 11-12 years old. In our country, both vaccines have approval from the Ministry of Health. Studies are conducted on women in the 26-45 age group and it is observed that the protection against HPV-infected and cancer-precursing lesions is 88-94%, while the protection against genital warts is 100%.

How Protective Is the HPV Vaccine?
