Machiavelli says; everyone knows what you look like; Very few people feel how it is...
Many of us feel like we are slowly giving up on everything and everyone at certain periods of our lives, the feeling of oblivion that comes with loneliness, the periods when pain and hopelessness leave us helpless, the state of depression that comes from feeling worthless, and the feeling of being forgotten. In the end, we sometimes hit the bottom by saying "I'm getting depressed, is there anyone who wants to come?" like a call for help.
So what is this depression? We live it, we express it, but let's define it a little bit; It may be accompanied by the person feeling depressed, no longer enjoying the activities he/she used to do and enjoying, gaining or losing weight without his/her own effort, sleep problems, slowing down in movements, feeling of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty focusing and suicidal thoughts. The fact that these are experienced for at least two weeks is also a determining feature.
Although the hereditary transmission of depression is effective, in addition to the negativities experienced in life, the individual's unemployment problem and the resulting low socio-economic level, educational status, age, gender, marital status, family problems, etc. triggers depression. One of the effects of depression is the individual's insufficient resistance and coping capabilities against these events in life or our lack of ability to use them. Each individual's perspective and perception of events is different. According to a study, no relationship was found between childhood traumas and depression. In other words, similar people who experience the same traumas do not react the same way. If we explain this in more detail with a true story; drug addicts and dealers, extortion, injury, murder, etc. There is a father and his two sons who are in prison for many different crimes. The father is interviewed and explains his current situation and how he got here. Later, the reporter doing the interview meets with his sons. One of the father's sons is in the same prison for the same crimes as the father, and what he said in the interview was, "You met with my father, I am the son of such a father, what could I do?" "I saw it from my father and I did it," he says. The reporter wants to meet with the other brother. The other brother is the general manager of a large holding company. during the interview After being informed that he had met with his father and other brother, he replied, "You met with my father, I am the son of such a father, what could I do?" he says. What is noteworthy is the different perception of the two siblings in the same sentence made with the same words. Personally, our perspective on events and our problem-solving methods are what make us who we are and direct our lives...
Depression is a disorder defined under anxiety disorders and requires help and can lead to serious problems when not. Although there is no specific way to protect or prevent depression, it is like a tall person learning to bend his head to pass through a low door. One should be able to find coping methods that are compatible with life and oneself.
And to be fully present in life, one should neither be late nor go too far…
Wishing to be on time in life and be felt…
