It is a fact that most of the married couples gain weight. Just as you may have observed this many times around you, you may also experience it yourself. So, why do married couples gain weight?
1- Many couples who lose weight in the rush before the wedding enter a period of relaxation that begins with the honeymoon after marriage. They find themselves in all-inclusive holiday concepts and open buffets, both during their honeymoon holidays and other holidays they spend time together.
2-Newlywed couples often go out for dinner to their elders and relatives. They are invited and they also host a dinner party at home. Since the dinners of our Turkish cuisine are quite satisfying for both the eyes and the stomach, gaining weight is inevitable.
3-Before marriage, especially women lead a more orderly life in their mother's homes. They exercise regularly and eat their mother's healthy meals. After marriage, people tend to eat foods that are easier to prepare. For dinner, high-carbohydrate foods such as pasta, ravioli, or orders from outside begin to be consumed.
4- Usually, a second tea table is set up after dinner in the home of newlywed couples. The new bride takes great pleasure in preparing and tasting desserts, cakes and pastries for her husband. The couple who spends time together does not forget to consume popcorn, nuts, chips, etc. while watching movies.
5- Newlywed couples make food-oriented plans on weekends. They want to have a pleasant time by thinking about where to have breakfast, where to have dinner, what is famous where.
Due to these main reasons that I observed in my clients, couples who can gain up to 15-20 kilos 1-2 years after marriage, turn to dietitians. they get it. They are astonished, they did not realize when they gained weight. They can no longer wear their old clothes, and the negative comments they hear from the people around them have started to bother them. Moreover, if the newlywed couple has plans to have children, the bride is very worried that her weight will increase exponentially. I am aware that a negative picture has emerged. But a problem that many newlywed couples experience is gaining weight together. So what to do?
1- When you notice that you started gaining weight after your wedding, consult a dietitian immediately. Talk about the changes in your life. Your dietitian will notice why you gain weight, will prevent you from gaining weight by creating a healthy nutrition program suitable for you, and will help you reach your ideal weight.
2-Instead of all-inclusive concepts during holidays, Choose cultural tours, boutiques and small hotels where you can walk and find healthy meals.
3- After dinner, do not eat anything. Although it sounds like a very common sentence, snacking after dinner really makes you gain weight. While watching movies or spending time together, keep drinks, not food, at hand. You can choose mineral water, herbal tea, coffee, etc.
4-Be planned for dinner. 1-2 types of vegetable dishes you make on the weekend and the meatballs and stuffed meats you put in the freezer will be your savior on weekdays. Some days, you can have breakfast for dinner. You can prepare omelettes, menemen, and minced eggs, etc., it will be both practical and healthy.
5- At invitation tables, in order not to offend anyone, keep your portions small and eat only Look at their taste. Refuse the sweet treat that comes after the meal or share it with your partner.
6-The beach and grove walks you will take with your partner on weekends will both give you pleasure and pleasure by increasing your happiness hormone and adrenaline. It will keep you in good shape.
7- Remind each other to drink water. If you have a water bottle on hand while shopping, entering the market, passing a kiosk, or going for a walk, you will find that you drink water much more easily and you will realize that you do not need acidic drinks.
