Dr. Adnan İpçioğlu said, “Families need to take precautions and have the necessary examinations done in order to ensure their children's success in education. Vision problems; It affects 5-10% of preschool children and 20-30% of school-age children. "Children's low success in classes may be due to their visual impairments, not their learning abilities," he said. Emphasizing the need for an examination, Adnan İpçioğlu said, “The most common diseases in children include eye misalignment, amblyopia, tear duct obstruction, myopia, hyperopia, strabismus, astigmatism and conjunctivitis. If early diagnosis is not made, situations such as the child not being able to see the board well enough, skipping lines while reading, following the sentences with his hand, looking at the book with one eye forward, watching television closely, watery eyes and difficulty doing his homework negatively affect school success.” He said.
Underlining that families who are not aware of their child's visual impairment attribute their children's low success in classes to their low learning ability, İpçioğlu said, “Children who do not have any deficiency in learning ability may fall behind in their classes because they cannot see well. When no precautions are taken for eye disorders, lazy eye begins and this situation affects the child's vision quality more seriously in the following years.
