Is our body us, or are we our body!..
Is it us, or our body, that moves our fingers!..
Is it us, or our body, that digests, processes and uses what we eat!..
/> Is it us or our body that feels open, sad, lonely and longing?..
Don't worry, I have always disliked philosophy either. Most of the time, just sitting down and taking a little time to think, not too much, is enough to explain a lot of things. Why are we hungry?! I wanted us to think a little. I would like to talk a little about the physical dimension of hunger.
In a study in Germany, the bone measurements of people living 150 years ago were studied in great detail and it was concluded that the average calorie content of the food they consumed daily was around 600-850 calories. Nowadays, we consume much more even in one meal. Moreover, we always have snacks whenever we have free time. What has changed compared to 150 years ago? We have become like this. Have our physical needs changed? No, human genetics can only adapt to a new situation every 1000 years. Since our physical needs do not change, the result is clear; Our world has changed. Our lifestyles, relationships, family life, social life, what we eat, our eating habits and, on top of that, the value of the food we eat have also changed. We no longer receive valuable protein, valuable fat, valuable water, minerals and vitamins. And even if we searched for them, we couldn't reach them easily. Our vegetables and fruits began to be grown with drugs and hormones, like manufactured goods. Our animals are no exception. In fact, perhaps the worst thing was that what we ate was manipulated. Whole wheat is gone; white flour has arrived. Sugar beet and honey are gone; Glucose syrup and chocolate arrived. Our belly slits are gone; Our fast food items such as hamburgers, pizza and pastries have arrived. Our fruit and raw snacks are gone; Our packaged snacks arrived. And many others.
I wonder what all these new foods have in common; Protein, fat and carbohydrates of the ancients were valuable. They were rich in vitamins and minerals; Now, we have started to socially consume worthless protein, saturated fat, simple sugar and foods without vitamins and minerals, and in fact, we are not getting very valuable nutrients for our body.
Since we live in the information age, our world is all about n changed; Then we should know what and why we eat today. Even though we do not know it, our body constantly leaves its hunger center/appetite open because it knows its needs. Therefore, we live as a hungry/insatiable society.
Essentially, if we allow what we eat to capture us; We will be doomed to persistent pain, skin/facial aging, blood pressure/diabetes, excess weight and many other diseases at an early age, as it is today.
Remember, we do not manage our body; Our body rules us, and if we don't give it what it wants, it will punish us with many diseases that we will suffer throughout our lives.
