Do not give water to the person having an epileptic seizure!
In some seizures, the person does not move much, looks fixed and freeze-like behaviors are observed. However, in some seizures, falling to the ground, convulsions and body movements occur. These major seizures, especially those accompanied by falling and convulsions, can be dangerous. In most seizures, there is no need to take the patient to the emergency room or call 112. However, people around need to know what to do.
If the patient experiences these, call 112 immediately!
If the person is having a seizure for the first time in his life, he may have difficulty breathing. If the person has a seizure, cannot recover after the seizure, if the seizure lasts longer than 5 minutes, if the seizure is injuring itself, if the seizure is spent in water, if the person has diabetes, heart disease or pregnancy, 112 should be called immediately.
Lie the person having a seizure gently on the ground
When you see someone having a major seizure (falling and convulsing), first remain calm. If there is no situation where you need to call 112, gently lay the person on the ground and stay with him until the seizure ends.
Remove things that could harm the person
Put something soft under his head. Remove objects around that could cause harm, that could hit the person or fall on them.
Turn the person to the left and make it easier for him/her to breathe
p>
You can turn the person having a seizure to his left side to make it easier for him to breathe. Remove clothing that may make breathing difficult, such as ties, and breakable items, such as glasses.
Check if there is a warning sign on the person
Check if the person has a medical warning (bracelet, etc.) indicating that he or she has an illness. If the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes, call 112. When the person wakes up, explain the situation to him and help him return home.
Do not do these to someone who is having a seizure!
-Do not try to stop the contractions,
-Do not put anything in the mouth, this may cause damage to the jaw and teeth,
-Do not try to perform artificial respiration, breathing will return when the contractions end.
-Do not give water or food until he regains consciousness completely, the food you give while he is unconscious may leak into his lungs.
