Phobias are excessive and persistent fear and anxiety of a person, such as a particular object, situation, activity, or animal. This fear and anxiety can significantly affect a person's daily life. It can adversely affect business life, interpersonal relationships and functionality in such cases. People with a phobia may feel intense anxiety or panic when confronted with any situation or object related to the phobia. For this reason, people with phobias sometimes exhibit avoidance behaviors towards the object they fear. For example, someone with a phobia of heights may prefer to walk instead of using stairs or elevators to avoid heights.

There are many factors in the formation and development of these phobias, but mainly; It can be said that factors such as genetic factors, family history, traumatic experiences or difficult living conditions are effective.

How can we deal with our phobias? We normally exhibit avoidance or avoidance behavior towards the object of which we are primarily afraid or anxious. These avoidance and avoidance behaviors relieve us in the short term as they prevent us from confronting the object of which we are afraid or anxious. But in the long run, it allows us to keep this situation going, that is, to constantly escape and avoid the object of which we are afraid and anxious. So not running away from the object we fear first would be the first step. If we do not run away from the object we fear, we will indirectly face it. We feel anxiety when we don't run away, avoid, or face it, it's normal. Later, our tolerance for this anxiety and fear increases, that is, our capacity to carry these negative emotions increases. In summary, we should not avoid or avoid the object that we describe as a phobia, and confronting this object or in other words being exposed to it will be the first attitude we should take.
