The sweet holiday rush has begun in all our homes. While some of us are planning to spend the holiday by visiting our loved ones, some of us are preparing holiday plans. The common point of both plans is that we will return to routine life. The stuffed wraps, desserts and pastries that are part of this routine are among the foods we will encounter during the holiday.
The Most Important Point is to Establish Balance
A person is always the sum of what he eats. If you can balance the foods you eat during the holiday and do a little math calculation, it is possible to enjoy the holiday without gaining weight.
Have your breakfast. It is very important to start the day with breakfast and continue with healthy foods. If you are going to visit during the holidays, be sure to have a light breakfast. Since treats are a part of our culture during visits, do not include bread group for breakfast.
Pay attention to portions during holiday visits. If you are going to visit more than one holiday during the day, you will definitely encounter treats and insistence on each visit. On your first visit, eat half of the treat in front of you. Try to choose milk desserts rather than waxy and sherbet desserts. Reduce the amount further on your next visit. Take a taste and leave your plate. If you are offered pastry or wrap, choose one of the two. Be careful not to exceed half the portion for them, either. Remember that suddenly loading up on carbohydrates in post-Ramadan meals will be hard on your stomach and even your body.
Limit tea and coffee consumption. Make sure not to exceed 2 cups of tea and 2 cups of coffee in total during the day. Be sure to drink 1 extra glass of water with every cup of tea or coffee you drink. Tea and coffee do not meet your water needs, on the contrary, they cause your body to become dehydrated due to their diuretic effect.
Choose a vegetable meal in the evening. To have a light dinner, choose 1 glass of kefir or yoghurt with a vegetable dish with olive oil. Be sure to have a salad with plenty of greens on the side. It is also possible to increase your protein intake by slicing cheese in your salad.
Get active. Increasing number of meals, attractiveness of treats and decreasing the amount of meals Don't just say it's a three-day holiday. In order to maintain your weight control, be sure to increase your activity with brisk walks. If possible, help your metabolism stay active by exercising actively.
