It is a rash disease caused by toxin-producing beta streptococcal bacteria toxin, which is most commonly seen in school-age children aged 4-8 years, after throat and rarely skin infection. As a clinical symptom, high fever, inflammation of the tonsils, widespread rash, which is more intense in the folds of the armpits, groin and neck, are observed in children. The appearance of the tongue, called strawberry tongue, is typical.
How to Diagnose and Treat Scarlet Disease?
Diagnosis is made by rapid antigen test on throat swab. Throat culture should be taken in cases where the sensitivity of the antigen test is low. Treatment of the disease is the administration of penicillin as an antibiotic. Penicillin is administered by injection or orally. If rubella is not treated on time, serious complications such as rheumatism and kidney damage may occur in the future.
Unlike other rash diseases, scarlet fever is not a viral infection.
What are the Symptoms of Scarlet fever?
The incubation period is 2-5 days. While viruses are the factors in other rash diseases, scarlet fever is a febrile, rash infection caused by a bacterium called group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus. Another difference of scarlet fever from other rash diseases is that the rashes dominate the body as a general rash. The rashes fade when pressed with a finger, and the redness returns to its original state within 1-2 seconds with the removal of the finger. Generally, the area around the mouth also appears paler. Generally, the reddened tonsils are covered with a white layer of inflammation.
