Phytoestrogens and Their Effects on Health

Phytoestrogens are compounds that functionally activate estrogenic activity in mammals and are similar to estrogen in structure and function. They are naturally found in plants and contain phenolic groups.

There are many studies examining their effects on health. Phytoestrogens, which can exhibit estrogenic and antiestrogenic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, produce different effects with each of these properties. While its estrogenic and antiestrogenic properties are mostly associated with menopause symptoms or osteoporosis, it has been stated that its antioxidant properties are associated with cancer.

The relationship between phytoestrogens and cancer;

Studies have shown that the antiestrogenic effects of phytoestrogens reduce menstrual frequency. It has been found that it reduces the risk of cancer by reducing the risk of cancer. It has been shown to prevent vascularization in cancerous tissue and thus limit tumor development. However, since it can act differently depending on the estrogen level, it acts as an anti-estrogen at high estrogen levels. For example, consumption of high amounts of flaxseed and soybeans increases estrogen levels and therefore increases the risk of breast cancer.

The relationship between phytoestrogens and osteoporosis;

Estrogen plays an important role in maintaining bone density. . There are many studies showing that consuming foods rich in phytoestrogens prevents bone density loss.

The relationship between phytoestrogens and menopause; Disorders cause conditions such as insomnia, depression and irritability. In studies, foods rich in phytoestrogens have a protective effect against these symptoms.

The relationship between phytoestrogens and cardiovascular diseases;

Phytoestrogens prevent cardiovascular diseases by affecting arterial elasticity and reducing the level of LDL cholesterol, which we call bad cholesterol. It has a protective effect. There are studies that explain the lower rate of cardiovascular disease in Asian societies with high soy intake.

It is rich in phytoestrogens. If we were to answer the question of what the nutrients are, they can be listed as soybeans, flaxseed, licorice, hops, wheat, garlic, sage and lentils.

Although the answer to the question of what are its side effects is not yet certain, it is sufficient for a safe intake level. There is no amount of work.
