Considerations While Brushing Teeth

Points to consider when brushing teeth;

When choosing a toothbrush, medium hard or soft brush should be chosen. Brushes that are too hard will damage the gums and may also damage the protective layer of the teeth, causing them to wear. Teeth should be brushed in circular motions. Thanks to these movements, the spaces between the teeth are cleaned more gently and effectively. During brushing, the brush should touch both the gums and teeth. We should not brush our teeth by pressing and very fast movements should be avoided. Again, the teeth at the back of the lower part should be brushed by bending the brush vertically and using only the front part of the brush with soft circular movements. If brushing is done for less than 2 minutes, the fluoride in the toothpaste does not affect the enamel. In addition, if the brushing time is short, the front teeth will be brushed but the back teeth will not be brushed.

The life span of a toothbrush is 3 months in general. After 3 months, abrasions occur on the brush. In addition, bacteria accumulate. In this case, both the teeth are not cleaned and bacteria continue to multiply in the mouth. If there is a toothbrush, it will not touch other toothbrushes and should be placed in a high place by attaching the protective cover. As a place choice, the edge of the sink should be avoided. Choosing toothpaste is just as important as choosing a toothbrush. Choosing a white toothpaste containing fluoride will be the right choice, not colored and intensely sweetened toothpastes. Because, thanks to fluoride, tooth enamel hardens and becomes durable. Apart from these, it also has a preventive feature against dental caries.

It is necessary to brush the tongue in addition to brushing teeth. The reason for this is that some of the bacteria accumulate on the tongue. Since there will be places that the toothbrush cannot reach, dental floss should also be used for cleaning the mouth and teeth. In this way, the formation of tartar is prevented.
