Dedicated Lives

COVID-19 or the full name Coronavirus disease in 2019 is a contagious respiratory disease that affects humans, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease, which was first discovered in Wuhan city of China's Hubei province in 2019, was defined as a global epidemic (pandemic) in Turkey on March 11, due to the spread worldwide since its discovery and the occurrence of COVID-19 cases in 113 countries. While a new literature about this disease, which was encountered for the first time, was being formed, the panic and anxiety caused by the rapid transmission of the disease and the continuous increase in the number of patients and deaths turned into an unavoidable fear. Questions about the effects of the epidemic, when it will end, the response of the health system to this situation, the introduction of the vaccination method, and curfews have also been on the agenda of social media. Businesses such as restaurants, restaurants, kindergartens and rehabilitation centers have experienced many financial and moral difficulties. Situations are no different in the health sector, apart from businesses. Especially those who work in this sector are under great responsibility. Being in one-to-one contact with patients brings with it the risk of infection. They are always ready, without weekends, without working hours. In particular, the risks of injury with sharp and piercing hospital equipment, masks, visors, glasses, overalls, etc. they use for protection from COVID-19. They have to deal with physiological and psychological problems such as wounds and irritations in various parts of the body, the risk of infection from infected patients or the risk of transmitting the virus to their family members or relatives, as well as exposure to violence from patients or their relatives. they have remained. Healthcare professionals took precautions against the risk of infecting themselves in the hospital, and also kept their distance with other healthcare professionals and fought in support of each other.

For them, family life is just as important. Mamen was paralyzed. For fear of infecting the virus, they could not enter their own homes and hug their children, if any. There have also been changes in the academic lives of the children. There was a transition from face-to-face education to online education. In the face of this situation, which should be followed and controlled by the parents, the children of the health workers continued on their own. Not only their own lives, but also the lives of the children were adversely affected. After breathing the infected environment for at least 16 hours, they could not go home after the night shifts that passed with great difficulty and continued to work in their wards. When they went home, they isolated themselves and constantly avoided family members such as quarantine in order not to infect their family. Especially because they were carriers, they had to be unable to approach their children, not be in close contact with them, and even use protective masks at home. They were afraid while they were cooking and cleaning their houses. Will I infect something? am i sick? Am I a carrier? Will I infect my parents with my siblings? Will my job cost their lives? When will I see them again? Will I be able to see? As if physical fatigue was not enough, they tired their minds.

They had to cut off their ties with everyone outside the core family. They even had to separate their children from themselves while they were actively working in intensive care units. This situation creates a sense of ownership, fear, fear of death, fear of uncertainty in children, and it seems that it will not be easy to overcome the effects of this event, but the obligatory conditions and the long process that has been going on have made it very difficult. Their social life was almost completely destroyed. They only talk to their friends, friends and relatives on the phone whenever they have the opportunity, they can neither spare time for their hobbies nor have any private time to spare. There can be many different needs in human life, and not meeting with anyone as much as possible is suspended in cases such as meeting their own needs. >

Some additional relaxation methods that can be done under all this stress are:

– Morale and motivation are vital for every day Trying to stay calm, thinking positive

- Good communication with colleagues and supervisors

- Paying attention to sleep patterns as much as possible

- Physical exercise even when sitting

– Taking a break from watching, listening, reading the news

– Techniques such as breathing exercises and meditation

– Consult a professional if necessary

Valuable The main topics that health workers are affected by the Covid - 19 epidemic disease are:

– Psychological depression

– Fear and anxiety in the family

– Disconnection from social life

– Children's lack of education

– Personal health problems, including death

– (We commemorate many health workers with mercy)

– Months of unlived time

While these are our casualties, our healthcare workers, who see the hospital duty as a front, a war duty, have succeeded in making a power and labor union by confronting the Turkish society at any time. On behalf of the Turkish nation, I would like to thank and express my gratitude to all the healthcare professionals, especially all healthcare professionals, who are fighting for the continuation of life, with the hope that the days when we can hug our friends, hold our weddings, hug and share our pain without masks, without distance, will come as soon as possible. Get well soon to all the humanity of the world.
