Causes of Infertility
Causes of infertility of the expectant mother:
-Ovulation disorders
Ovulation disorders should be considered in women who do not menstruate regularly. Ovulation disorders are a factor that makes it difficult to get pregnant.
- Tube (duct) obstruction or damage:
If both tubes are blocked, the couple cannot become pregnant naturally.
-Endometriosis:
The uterine tissue can develop outside the uterus. This problem can lead to infertility in various situations.
-Age of the expectant mother:
As the expectant mother gets older, her ovarian reserves decrease. The decrease in ovarian reserves accelerates after the age of 35. For this reason, the chance of having a child decreases at later ages.
-Environmental conditions:
Stress, smoking, alcohol habit, poor nutrition, constant use of various drugs are the factors that reduce the possibility of pregnancy.

Causes of infertility for the expectant father:
Problems related to sperm count, sperm motility and morphology are among the most commonly encountered factors in infertility. To determine this situation, semen analysis, that is, spermiogram, is performed. In order for the results of semen analysis to be evaluated correctly, the male candidate must undergo sexual abstinence for 3 days. If the sperm cell count is not sufficient as a result of sperm analysis, in vitro fertilization methods can be used.
How long does in vitro fertilization treatment take?
How long does in vitro fertilization treatment take? The outcome varies depending on the cause of infertility. This treatment method; It is divided into two as long and short protocols. The long protocol is completed in approximately 45 days. The first stage of this process includes the part where the patient uses medication. After this stage, the ovarian stimulation phase begins, and then the treatment ends with the collection of eggs and embryo transfer.
A blood pregnancy test is performed 12 days after the transfer. In the short protocol, there is no preliminary preparation period. In this protocol, we proceed directly to the stimulation of the ovaries. The next steps are the same as the long protocol. The short protocol takes 18 days on average.
