The substances that make up the fillings are divided into two groups: soluble and permanent. Fillers whose melting time is between these two groups can be called semi-permanent fillers.
Dissolvable fillers melt completely between 6 months and 2 years. This group is fillers that are mostly used to eliminate fine wrinkles in the facial area and can be applied superficially. It has water retention feature. It is found naturally in the human body and living things. The function of hyaluronic acid is to carry water to the skin and retain this water.
Semi-permanent fillers
Semi-permanent fillings Examples of permanent fillers are Poly L-Lactic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite. The melting time of these fillers after application is more than 2 years. Poly L-Lactic acid accelerates collagen production and the volume effect increases and reaches its highest level within 6 weeks. Calcium hydroxyapeptide is a substance that has very low allergenic properties, has no water retention effect and has little effect on collagen production. There is no increase in volume over time. They are not preferred in lip applications because they become visible as they are opaque and can be felt as superficial particles.
Permanent fillers
Examples of permanent fillers are Silicone and Polymethylmethacrylate. (PMMA). These fillings do not dissolve and may need to be removed surgically. PMM triggers collagen production, but it has the capacity to cause allergies. Therefore, an allergy test should be performed before application. This group of substances may cause negative consequences such as infection, dislocation and granuloma formation. Again, this group has the feature of being used in large quantities in areas that require more volume. It is used in areas where the thick skin has camouflaging properties.
In which areas are filler applications applied?
In general, when you look at aesthetic injectable methods, botulinum toxin(Botox) is generally used on the upper half of the face and dermal substances on the lower half. This is not a rule, both applications can be used for both the upper and lower half of the face.
