You clean your teeth with dental floss. This is great. However, you need to make sure you use the correct technique for the dental floss to effectively clean bacterial plaque from your teeth.
Since you will be putting your fingers in your mouth, be sure to wash your hands before handling the dental floss. Then follow the steps below:
Use enough dental floss: Tear off a piece about 45 cm long. It may sound like a lot, but it is necessary to have a clean section when moving from one tooth to the other. Wrap most of the string around the middle or index finger of your desired hand, and wrap a small amount around the middle or index finger of your other hand. (If you use your middle finger, your index finger is free and you can use this finger to guide the floss.)
Slide it between the teeth. Gently slide the floss between the teeth with zig-zag movements. slide it and make sure that the floss does not pass between the teeth quickly or with a "pop".
Create a "C" shape. Create a C shape as you pass the floss around your teeth. Then carefully pull the floss in an upward direction from the gum line to the top of the tooth.
Wrap the floss. As you move from one tooth to the other, release a clean section of the floss wrapped around the finger of one hand. Wrap the used string around the finger of your other hand. Use your thumb as a guide.
Reach both sides. Don't forget to floss the back of your teeth, too.
As long as you use the correct technique, the type of floss you use is yours. It's up to your personal preference. There are many types to choose from, and you can choose a variety of types to suit the needs of you and your family members. In any case, using the right technique will help you remove food debris and bacterial plaque buildup from between your teeth, improving your oral health.
