We all often either ignore or try not to pay much attention to the negativities about ourselves and the outside world. We engage in the behavior of avoiding events, experiences, people or thoughts that will take away our joy and demoralize us. We try to pay more attention to the positive things about ourselves and focus on our positive aspects. This situation is a kind of balance. This attitude, which we exhibit consciously or unconsciously in order to protect our mental health, is actually aimed at protecting us. However, there are times when some people tend to use this mechanism in the opposite direction at certain periods of their lives. They always have negative thoughts about themselves and their environment. They start to see the negative side of everything and ignore anything positive. Over time, these thoughts progressed to the point of blaming yourself for everything that happened and seeing yourself as worthless.
What we call depression is the gradual darkening of the person's spiritual world. Sunset has begun in our spiritual world and the sun begins to set slowly. After sunset, it is necessary to wait a very long time for the sun to rise. In fact, for people experiencing depression, it is as if the sun will never rise. In the inner world of the depressed person, there is a perception that the sun will never rise again.
The person who is in an extremely depressed mood feels extremely worthless, has no expectations from the future, and activities that used to give him pleasure have lost their meaning and value. He now constantly interprets the world from the negative pole. Everything becomes a source of pain for him. The support of the close circle is not enough.
Don't worry about it,
It will pass with time,
Look at what you are worried about,
Think of people who are worse off than you,
Read the Quran, do not miss your prayers, pray
br /> Go travel around a bit, take a vacation.
These and many similar comments made by the close circle in the name of consolation find no response in the world of the depressed person.
There is also a slowdown in the speech, movements and thoughts of the depressed person. Sometimes people who are depressed (anxious) can be overly active. Constantly going back and forth, wringing his hands They sit still, cannot sit still, and exhibit rhythmic leg movements.
The comments made by those close to the person who is depressed are not very accurate either. Usually, one is stuck on a negative event that occurred before the depression. Remember that it is not very accurate to attribute depression to a single cause. There is usually a thought system that prepares depression, and because of this way of thinking, some people are more prone to depression. There are many different opinions about the cause of depression. But it is impossible to mention them all here.

Undoubtedly, the symptoms listed above make sense after the observation of an expert. Otherwise, the reader should not try to make a diagnosis on his own by reading these symptoms. Moreover, depression is a concept that everyone knows (or thinks) nowadays and is extremely open to abuse. Depression, which is often confused with 'Mourning', has become a self-diagnosis carelessly made by every sad person.
By the way, let's also point out the important differences between mourning and depression.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOURNING AND DEPRESSION
The dominant emotional state in the mourning person; Feelings of emptiness and lost person
Depression In the sion; There is an almost permanent depressed mood. There is also a lack of expectation to be happy or enjoy activities.
The intensity of the feelings of sadness and grief experienced by the grieving person tend to decrease over the days and weeks. These symptoms may sometimes increase (in case memories of the loss come to life).
In depression, the depressed mood (and therefore feelings of grief and sadness) is more permanent. It is not dependent on any thought.
The emotion experienced by the mourning person can sometimes be accompanied by positive emotions and humor. For example, when a family living abroad comes together for a funeral, they can commiserate and chat in the evening. Although this conversation may seem inappropriate at times, it can still be joyful. However, the same people can carry out the funeral with sorrow the next day.
However, this is not the case for a person who is depressed. There is a general state of unhappiness.
Thoughts accompanying grief are mostly in the form of thinking about thoughts and memories about the deceased.
In depression, the thought mostly manifests itself as the person having pessimistic thoughts or criticizing himself intensely.
In grief, self-esteem - the person's self-respect - is generally preserved. He resorts to feeding negative emotions and throws himself into intense feelings of worthlessness.
There is no self-contempt in mourning. If there is, it is mostly related to thoughts and behaviors that cannot be done about the 'deceased'.
Even if the person in mourning wishes to die, these are mostly temporary thoughts arising from the desire to 'reunite' with the deceased.
However, in the person who is depressed, these thoughts It may occur due to feelings of worthlessness, or because one does not deserve to live, or because one cannot cope with the pain. Considering all these data, it is impossible to call every sad and dejected person depressed. Generally speaking, when a person tells us 'I am depressed', they actually mean that they are very unhappy and sad. But whether a person is truly depressed depends on expert opinion. Therefore, in any case People who show the symptoms of depression that we mentioned above should definitely consult a specialist.
It should not be forgotten that a depressed person may also be reluctant to get help. For this reason, it is extremely important for the person's close circle and family to encourage and support the person in this regard.
Wishing you health and happiness…
