Calculating Your Required Weight

Body mass index is used to calculate the ideal weight. So, what is body mass index?

Body mass index (BMI) is a parameter that shows whether an adult's weight is within the ideal range according to his height. According to the World Health Organization's 2017 data, Turkey is 4th in the world and 1st in Europe in terms of obesity. It has been stated that 1 in every 3 people in Turkey is obese. In distribution by gender, the number of obese women is much higher than men. So, do you know which range you are in according to your BMI value? It is possible to calculate with a very simple formula. If you divide your weight by the square of your height, you will calculate your BMI value. So;

BMI= WEIGHT / HEIGHT2(kg/m2)

BMI CLASSIFICATION kg/m2

Thin                             <18.5

Normal                           18.5 – 24.9

Slightly overweight                 25 – 30

Fat (obese)               ≥30

Let's briefly comment on the BMI classification. When you divide your weight by the square of your height, the resulting range means that you are in that group. Individuals in the slightly obese group with BMI values between 25 and 30 (kg/m2), if you cannot control your weight, you are on your way to becoming fat, or in frightening terms, obese. The child of every obese mother and father is usually either fat or obese. Because the people who teach children eating behavior are also mothers and fathers. If the child sees what his family members eat, he will naturally eat that too. If you have a cola bottle in your hand, you will see a cola; if you have a water bottle, you will see a water bottle.

Remember that there is no weight that cannot be lost. Only one step is needed in losing weight. Do not postpone your health, there is no day to start a healthy diet or as you call it, a diet. As long as you go to a nutritionist and aim to correct your eating behaviors as a family and reach the ideal weight.
