How Do We Protect Our Home From Virus?

Internal Medicine Specialist. Dr. Ozan Kocakaya explained: He listed the ways to ensure hygiene at home and the rules to be followed due to the Corona virus epidemic.

Although the Corona virus is transmitted through respiratory droplets, it can survive on surfaces for hours and first spread to infected surfaces and then to the mouth, eyes, nose. Since it is possible to catch the disease by touching the mucosa, surface cleaning is as important as hand and face hygiene. Here is Expert Dr. Ozan Kocakaya's recommendations in this regard…

AIRINE THE CLOTHES

– After coming from outside, consider that the coats or top layers of clothes have the virus on them and prevent them from scattering. It should be removed slowly and ventilated outdoors to prevent infection.

– Since the viruses in the droplets can remain alive in the hair/scalp, it is a good choice to take a shower.

– Within the day after a non-patient comes home, it is a good choice to take a shower. It is sufficient to wipe the objects it comes into contact with (keys, ID cards, wallet, mobile phone, etc.) with a damp cloth impregnated with ordinary cleaning agents.

– Washing the hands, including the wrists, even up to the elbows, and face-neck areas that may come into contact with droplets. It is recommended to wash the nape area with soap and water.

– A study conducted in Singapore; clearly demonstrates the importance of environmental cleanliness.

Virus RNA was found on every surface of the house of a Covid-19 patient with a mild cough (including door handles, light switches, bed, headboards, inside doors, windows, sink and toilet). It has been determined that

The same study also showed that surface cleaning with routine cleaning agents is sufficient to get rid of them completely.

AVOID THE CLEANER

– The disinfectant solution prepared for home cleaning should contain 1 tablespoon of bleach for every 1 liter of water. The surface of the room of the patient or the individual applying quarantine measures should be cleaned daily.

During this cleaning, the use of a vacuum cleaner should be avoided to prevent the spread of the virus.

– A Covid-19 patient who is being monitored at home or 4 times a day and each time in a room containing individuals applying quarantine measures. It should be ventilated for at least 30 minutes.
