Temperament, Not People, is Bad: A Psycho-Social Perspective on Loneliness

Being alone from time to time is something that every individual needs. Being alone can be a beneficial choice to stop and think, analyze the day or even life, face problems or just rest the soul and body. There is a very fine line as to whether this is a choice or a necessity. "Social Interest Theory" advocated by Alfred Adler, the founder of Individual Psychology, argues that the individual must communicate with other people in order to develop, and that being socially satisfied is extremely healthy. Lack of social interest can cause some mental illnesses in a person. These; Disorders related to loneliness such as depression, anxiety, social phobia, substance use addiction.

It is not people, but temperaments that are bad: A psycho-social perspective on loneliness

If you feel the need to be alone very often and live an isolated life If you're using it, it probably doesn't look very healthy. Sometimes this may be a necessity; Then loneliness becomes unpleasant and even hurtful. So, how can you strike this balance? First of all, as I always advocate, create a routine. In this way, it will be easier for you to make quality use of the time you spare for yourself. For example; Watching two episodes of the series you want to watch after returning from work/school, eating at a place you like, having fun with your friends on a certain day of the week, attending a training or course according to your area of interest, etc. Activities are examples of creating a routine. Seeing that you can be self-sufficient will create a new perspective on your self and make you feel much more functional. If loneliness is a situation you have to experience, perhaps you should use this process to increase your insight and analyze the internal and external factors that cause you to be lonely. Your communication with yourself mirrors your communication with your environment. In this context, if your communication with people is not going the way you want, it means it is time to look at how you treat yourself.
