There is a teenager at home

Understanding the adolescence period is the first step in understanding the adolescent individual and establishing healthy communication with him. Adolescence is a process that begins at approximately the age of 10 and continues until the age of 22. Of course, it does not take 12 years for the change to be difficult, but it takes time for the adolescent to get used to his own body and for parents to get used to the adolescent's communication.

For adolescents in this period, the emotional system of the brain is more active than the thought system, so they make impulsive choices, regardless of the consequences. His emotions take action and then he thinks. Their forebrains have not yet developed. So, what is the positive side of forebrain development? It includes the ability to plan, maintain attention, and think rationally. During this period, the sense of belonging comes to the fore. His own room, his own belongings and his own friends are important factors for his existence. Sometimes we can observe that the adolescent becomes angry even when someone enters his room without knocking. He asks himself questions such as who am I, why was I born, what do I want to do in life from now on, what profession should I choose, and he struggles to get answers to these questions. Now his personality is starting to take shape. That's why we observe that their emotions suddenly change or their decisions change. When making a choice or decision, the world is either black or white for them; we witness that they suddenly make an opposing decision.

While the adolescent is going through a difficult period with his changing body structure and changing emotions, he thinks that he is the only one going through this period and especially thinks that his parents do not understand him. During this period, the adolescent wants to handle everything on his own because it is important for his own survival. Each result he achieves is a step towards his existence.

So what should be paid attention to in adolescent communication?
