Congratulations! You have left behind your 40-week pregnancy and hours-long birth adventure. You are now a mother. No matter what kind of birth you had, you have a 6-week recovery period waiting for you as your body stretches during this process. This process works differently for every mother. If you had a vaginal birth and did not have any tears during birth, recovery may take up to 3 weeks or up to 6 weeks. After a cesarean section, you will recover in 4-6 weeks. Postpartum bleeding may continue for up to 6 weeks. The first 3-10 days can be busy. Then your bleeding will change from red to pink, brown to yellow discharge. If you are bleeding heavily and have to change pads every hour, call your doctor. During this process, be sure to clean your genital area with warm water after going to the toilet.
Pay attention to your caesarean section stitches. Wipe your stitched area with tincture of iodine every day without damaging it. Dry with a clean towel. Ask your doctor whether you should keep your wound open or closed. Do not lift heavy items.
Be careful. It may take time for you to make your first bowel movements after birth. Therefore, consume grain foods, fruits and vegetables that will help the process. Take walks. In case of constipation, consult your doctor. Do your Kegel exercises. This is the best method to return your genital area to its former state. Therefore, start these exercises immediately when you are ready. Try to do 20 sets 3 times every day.
Pay attention to your breasts. You can apply a warm or cold compress or a light massage to your sore breasts. If you experience fever, contact your doctor. This is most likely caused by your breasts not fully emptying. You may experience swelling in the feet, which will disappear over time. Right shoulder pain will also go away over time. Get plenty of exercise. You can start small walks. Taking light walks will relax you physically and psychologically by regulating your blood circulation and strengthening your muscles. It will help you relieve gas, relieve constipation, and help you recover quickly. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
You can use a corset unless your doctor says otherwise
