C-section, which is offered as an option to women today, is actually a necessity. It is a surgery performed to save the lives of women and their babies who cannot give birth naturally. The risks that are present in all
surgeries are also present in cesarean sections. That's why women should not see cesarean section as an option and should think carefully when deciding on optional cesarean section.
As a woman, an obstetrician and a mother, I see how beautiful and harmless natural birth is.
I want to remind you. 500 thousand women in Turkey undergo cesarean section every year. Although some of these are for life-saving, i.e. medical reasons, most of them are optional. These women undergo cesarean section either because they are afraid or because their doctor deems it appropriate. There are even people who have a cesarean section because their family, such as their mother or
husband, wants it. The perspective that prevents women from giving birth vaginally, which is the basis of their creation, accepts that giving birth from the abdomen is normal.
C-section is a life-saving operation. Profit and loss calculations should be made, and if the harm to the mother and baby is greater, a caesarean section should be performed. Therefore, except for urgent problems, definitely give birth normally.
Do not let anyone convince you for arbitrary cesarean section.
Important information to know about cesarean section
Lung disease in babies who have cesarean section. The risk increases 4 times.
Babies born naturally are more intelligent.
The recovery period after cesarean section is at least 6 weeks. During this period, painkillers must be taken every day.
Caesarean section is an abdominal operation. So, like all surgeries, you have the possibility of getting an infection.
Blood loss is more than normal birth.
You may not be able to eat for up to 24 hours after a cesarean section.
Abnormal wound healing, called keloid, may occur on your skin in the area where the cesarean section was performed. This is a kind of abnormal proliferation of the skin. It is itchy, painful and does not go away. This depends neither on the doctor nor on the
material used. The body does this while it is healing. The incision made in the uterus during the cesarean section is stitched. Due to these stitches, the blood flow of this area is disrupted
and the stitched area becomes thinner than the other sides. In fact, a problem called isthmocele may develop here. .
When you have this problem, brown smelly spots continue for 3-5 days after menstrual bleeding ends and it becomes difficult to get pregnant.
Adhesions form in the abdomen. During the next cesarean section, there may be an injury to the organs that are stuck here, namely the bladder or
bowel.
The urinary bladder is displaced during the surgery. While it is healing, the bladder adheres too tightly to the uterus.
