A person can be exposed to a wide variety of events throughout life. Studies on the causes and consequences of psychological events have been carried out since history and are still being carried out. In our previous articles, I had the opportunity to share with you, our valued readers, what phobia means and why it occurs in my articles on phobia types and what the solutions are. Another type of phobia, blood retention phobia, causes fainting due to the possibility of seeing blood or the intense emotion experienced by seeing blood, and the accompanying decrease in blood pressure.
We can see blood in various events in the world we live in. However, we cannot ignore the number of people experiencing this phobia in professional groups where blood is handled. In the first years of medical school, some students may experience intense emotions and faint due to exposure to blood. This situation can also be shown among the problems that may be experienced in the performance of the profession. So, why do we bleed when we have a wound? When you see a bleeding wound, your brain realizes that something is wrong, something is not right, and there is a situation that requires panic, even if the wound is not yours. If the blood there continues to flow, the person will die and the brain knows this. The brain is instinctively programmed to protect itself from dying, even if the wound and blood are not yours. Meanwhile, the subconscious starts a panic and orders your heart to beat slower. This order is actually a measure aimed at delaying death for at least a few minutes by slowing down the blood flowing from the wound. Our subconscious has such deep experience and intelligence. Since heart slowdown will reduce the amount of blood flowing to your brain, your brain takes control of your body from your consciousness for a while and takes control to keep you alive. At this time, you see everywhere as very bright white because your pupils are dilated as much as possible, cold sweat flows from your forehead and ringing in your ears begins, and it becomes difficult for you to stand on your feet. Actually, that's all we're worried about. This mechanism is our body's way of defending itself, not that you are weak. This means that these negative thoughts that occur in our minds cause psychological depression and some symptoms.
Well, this ps. Let's look at the question of how to get rid of psychological discomfort. First of all, it is revealed during the examination performed by physicians whether there is any biological disorder in your body. When it is concluded that the issue is psychological, this phobia can be worked on with help from mental health experts. As a psychologist, sessions conducted on the fear experienced, the person's thoughts, and the things they fear to be exposed to will determine the patient's strategies when exposed to this phobia. Of course, it will not be desired to immediately expose the patient to blood. It is beneficial to gradually increase the person's threshold.
