Matter Circumcision

Although circumcision is perceived as "circumcision" religiously in our country, it is actually a social "obligation". In other words, as families, we are actually fulfilling a social phase.

However, since almost all of the adult males in our country are circumcised, this situation creates a social obligation. In particular, we can encounter serious bullying of children who have reached primary school age regarding the situation of each other's pips. This situation, which we call peer bullying, can lead to serious social and psychological problems in children. Perhaps this is the most important reason why circumcision is done for me. In other words, this should be done in order not to experience social problems.

Some families state that they want to have their children done when they want to when they grow up. But I have never met a boy who really wanted to be circumcised in my life as a doctor. There is no child who wants to be circumcised to play bye. In fact, he wants to be circumcised because he wants to avoid the social difficulties he has experienced or may experience. Therefore, my suggestion is to fulfill this social obligation at a younger age so that our child does not experience these problems. Children under the age of two cannot remember the events they experienced. Therefore, it is appropriate to complete the circumcision process before this age if there is no obstructive health problem.

One of the most frequently asked questions in recent years is whether it is better to perform circumcision very early, in the neonatal period. My suggestion is that this newborn period, which is the first month, is not suitable for circumcision. The first month is the period when the baby gets used to the world and the mother gets used to the baby. Performing a surgical trauma such as circumcision during this period may bring more harm than good.

Another period in which it may be inconvenient to do it again is the phallic period in which sexual identity development occurs. This period, which is between the ages of 2-5 according to some experts and between the ages of 3-6 according to some, can actually vary from child to child. It is predicted that circumcision in this period, when the child's interest in the genitals increases, may cause sexual problems in the child. There are no scientific studies with a high level of evidence on this subject.

Circumcision is an important surgical procedure in which the skin on a man's genitals is cut and stitched. suck. This process should be done under the most favorable conditions without being underestimated. Ensuring surgical safety and comfort is very important for both the surgeon and the baby. Circumcision can be performed under local or general anesthesia after these conditions are met. Since the pipi is an organ that bleeds very well, the healing process can also be a bit flaming. However, if patience is shown, the process fades within a few days and the penis becomes normal. In this regard, families should be especially warned before the circumcision procedure. After the circumcision, the child can usually return to normal life within 1-2 weeks.

I wish all our children and their families healthy days.
