Problems That May Be Encountered During In Vitro Fertilization Application

Cancellation of treatment: This happens if the patient does not respond to the treatment as expected and a sufficient number of eggs are not produced.

No eggs can be found: Especially if the patient is older and has no ovarian reserve. In women with miscarriage, although the egg reaches a sufficient size, no egg may be found during the egg collection process.

Difficulty in transfer: Embryo transfer may be very difficult due to the anatomical problems of the woman. In such cases, the chance of pregnancy decreases.

No sperm found: In approximately 40% of patients who undergo TESE, sperm cannot be found and the treatment has to be cancelled.

Lack of fertilization: It is a rare condition.

Bleeding before the pregnancy test: Although the chance of pregnancy decreases in those who have bleeding before the test day, it does not mean that there is no pregnancy.

Possibility of ectopic pregnancy: The probability of ectopic pregnancy after in vitro fertilization is between 1-3%.

Ovarian Hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS): OHSS The exact cause is unknown. The ovaries of some patients respond excessively to stimulation, and some side effects may occur in these patients within two weeks following stimulation. This condition occurs as fluid accumulation in the abdominal cavity and other body cavities. Symptoms include bloating, lower abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, in severe cases, shortness of breath and increased blood clotting. Although mild symptoms may be observed in most patients undergoing in vitro fertilization, the condition gradually becomes more severe in 5% of the patients and these patients require inpatient treatment. In people at risk for OHSS, treatment can be canceled or embryo transfer can be postponed after the eggs are collected and the eggs can be frozen or the drug dose can be reduced.
