Calls are a skin disease that progresses with skin thickening. They are usually painful. Sometimes they may peel off. Sometimes it can be seen as a painless erection.
Why do calluses form?
Generally, friction and pressure are the causes of callus. The skin tries to protect itself against repetitive trauma by collecting water. As a result, the surface cells of the skin increase and thicken the skin. While calluses are often seen on the hands and feet, they can rarely be seen in other areas. These areas:
- On the palms of those who use tools such as rackets and hammers
- On the joints of the hands
- On the edges of the feet due to tight shoes
- Thickening of the soles of the feet and palms of those who walk barefoot is known as palmoplanterkeratoderma. This condition may also be genetic.
To heal painful cracks:
- It should be applied and covered with pomades, especially vaseline.
- If there is an infection, antibiotic creams should be used.
- If these measures are not useful, a dermatologist should be consulted.
- Sometimes, if there is a protruding bone under the callus, surgery is performed by an orthopedist. An action must be taken.
