What is Congenital Scoliosis?

“Congenital spinal curvatures” that occur as a result of some disorders of the nervous system or developmental anomalies in the womb. It is called "congenital scoliosis".

Doctors also call these "congenital scoliosis". These are the spinal curvatures that are the most difficult to treat because the work to be done does not end with surgery, it can even be said that it begins with surgery.

Since congenital scoliosis surgery involves many unique difficulties, it must be performed by an experienced pediatric neurosurgeon or pediatric neurosurgery instructor. Moreover, it is essential that the pediatric team, that is, pediatricians, of the center where the surgery will be performed must be well-equipped.

The rehabilitation of these children is very difficult and can only be done by specially trained personnel in experienced physical therapy and rehabilitation centers. These children already live in a wheelchair and the purpose of the operation is never cosmetic; It prevents compression of internal organs such as the lungs, makes the child's care easier, and sometimes even just allows him to sit upright.
