In vitro fertilization is the most effective assisted reproductive technique applied to couples diagnosed with infertility. In other words, in vitro fertilization treatment is a treatment method applied to couples who cannot have a baby despite unprotected, regular sexual intercourse for a year. In vitro fertilization treatment is the combination of the egg taken from the woman and the sperm taken from the man in a laboratory environment, and then placing the resulting embryo into the uterus of the expectant mother after 3-5 days of follow-up.
Detailed history of the couples who apply to the clinic due to infertility is taken at the first meeting. Then, the expectant mother is given a gynecological examination and ultrasonography. With this examination, the expectant mother's ovarian reserve, uterus and cervix are evaluated. Information is given about the necessary tests to reveal the causes of infertility. A uterine film of the expectant mother is requested. A spermiogram (semen analysis) is requested from the prospective father. The purpose of all these tests is to determine the causes of infertility.
In vitro fertilization treatment is recommended for couples in the presence of the following conditions:
-
Tubal obstruction (tubes are blocked due to previous surgeries, ovarian inflammation or if the tube is blocked due to a previous ectopic pregnancy or has been treated with medication)
-
If the egg reserve has decreased
-
Endometriosis
-
If pregnancy could not be achieved with previous standard treatments
-
Azoospermia (no sperm) or severe oligoasthenoteratazoospermia (total forward motile sperm) in the man if the number is below 5 million)
-
In case either spouse has a genetically inherited disease such as thalassemia (Mediterranean anemia), cystic fibrosis or hemophilia
-
To protect the spouse from infectious diseases such as hepatitis and HIV
-
Before cancer treatment
Those who will start in vitro fertilization treatment Tests to be requested from couples:
Woman:
HbsAg, Anti-HCV, Anti-HIV, TSH, Prolactin, Serum AMH level, Rubella IgG, Hemogram and blood group
Male:

When starting in vitro fertilization treatment, the most suitable treatment method for the couple is determined. In vitro fertilization treatment should be started on the second or third day of the expectant mother's menstrual period.
