This anxiety can have a good effect if it remains at the level of excitement and encourages you to work harder. However, even while working, if your mind is about possible failures in the exam or presentation, and if your internal conversations with yourself are in a negative tone, it means that something is not going well.

Anxiety about one's own performance in a certain subject is often one of the biggest reasons for poor performance. . This anxiety may increase as the working level increases. This anxiety can be experienced in all kinds of school and work environments.

High school and university entrance exams, the possibility of winning, the meaning of life, etc. It turns into a special stress factor because of this, and it can cause great stress, especially in young people whose environment or their own expectations for success level are high, and can create anxiety at a level that can be called exam anxiety. Exam anxiety; It is defined as intense anxiety that prevents the learned information from being used effectively during the exam and causes a decrease in success. This anxiety can be accompanied by psychological symptoms such as anxiety, uneasiness, distress, fear of failure, reluctance to work, decreased self-confidence, feeling of inadequacy, or physical complaints such as nausea, tremors, dry mouth, sweating, sleep disorders, abdominal pain, feeling faint, or attention and concentration.

The presence of test anxiety can be easily detected with simple scales, and although its duration varies depending on the person's past life and personality traits, it is usually overcome within 2-4 sessions with the technique called EMDR.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) technique was developed by Psychologist Francine Shapiro in the late eighties. Shapiro looked to the right while under the influence of a traumatic memory. He realized that he felt good as a result of walking by moving to the left and started working on this issue. He has tried this method and found it to be effective, especially on people with traumatic experiences, war veterans, etc.

While working with EMDR, clients are enabled to identify the issue that disturbs them emotionally at the physical, imaginary, emotional and mental level. With a certain scoring system, it is aimed for the person to evaluate his/her own internal change. Focusing on the disturbing memory or physical distress, the eyes are asked to move left and right. The technique, applied with an eight-step protocol, works in all emotional, cognitive and physical areas. It is based on the principle of eliminating emotional and cognitive imbalances. It is thought that the right and left brain, where emotions and thoughts are coded separately through eye movements, work simultaneously, revealing connections in memory, and healing is achieved by replacing negative perceptions with positive and realistic perceptions.

EMDR is currently used to treat traumas such as accidents and natural disasters. It is one of the most effective techniques for mental disorders such as phobias and panic attacks. Research continues on why it is so effective and in such a short time and the reasons for the change it creates in the brain.
