To All Working Women

Women are born and shoulder the social roles assigned to them and take part in many struggles under the weight of all these roles. She changes, changes, grows, grows, learns, teaches. She is involved in many areas, including social, economic and political, and she illuminates these areas in the light of her own vision. If the light that has illuminated all these areas over the years is a woman, those who prefer darkness have tried to put the woman into certain patterns and imprisoned not only her body but also her thoughts within four walls. However, a woman's greatest right is to be who she "wants", not who society wants her to be.

19. While the role of women until the 19th century was limited to being a mother and a good wife, the acceleration of the factoryization process gave women the title of "worker". Factories that needed a lot of labor also needed women's labor in this process, and thus women began to take part in economic life. The wars that took place in the world and the forced participation of men in these wars accelerated the process of women entering business life. Women who take on the role of "employee" as well as the role of mother and wife are increasingly becoming aware of the shallowness of these roles. This awareness is actually the first sparks of awareness about women's rights.

The emergence of March 8, International Working Women's Day, is associated with various events. The first of these was the rally held in New York in 1908 by female workers demanding union and voting rights. Some sources associate this day with the workers who died in the Shirtwaist Factory fire that occurred in New York in 1911. It is stated that the February Revolution in Russia in 1917, which started with women's strikes, also influenced the formation of this day. In our country, March 8, International Working Women's Day, started to be celebrated in 1921 with the initiatives of two women. March 8 celebrations were not allowed until 1975. It started to be celebrated again in 1975 with the activities of the Progressive Women's Movement. When we look at the historical process, we see that it has taken such a difficult and long time to celebrate March 8 International Women's Day. Its realization is an example of the difficulties women experience in achieving their individual rights.

When International Women's Day is mentioned, many people think that this day aims to indicate how valuable creatures women are and to glorify them. However, on the contrary, it represents today's women's effort to remove themselves from the "second-class human" mold. It is completely wrong to think that women's expectation is to be exalted and to reach higher positions. Because people only want to be rewarded for their efforts. Imagine that you receive a lower salary than an individual with whom you have gone through the same education processes, spent the same amount of time at work and put in equal effort, simply because of your gender difference and the social restrictions placed on your gender. This injustice, which we can express in a single sentence, is just a tiny and modern example of the injustice stories of thousands of women that do not fit into the pages. Telling women how valuable they are on March 8 and honoring them with expressions such as "They are flowers" is quite contrary to the meaning and importance of this day. Women's expectation is not positive discrimination, but the elimination of discrimination.

Women get as tired as everyone else, try as much as everyone else, but do not earn as much as everyone else. March 8 is the day of women who have had to fight to get the value they deserve in society since the first moment of their existence. Whether this struggle is waged with banners on the streets or with sentences in a discussion environment, it never deviates from its goal. March 8, International Working Women's Day, means much more than a few definitions we will make. Women who fought because they wanted to have a say in the functioning of their society and to vote have been replaced by women who fight to get rewarded for their labor in the workplace. Even though the figures and targets change, the struggle is always the same. Today, March 8th is celebrated every year in our country. From the outside, awareness in society seems to have increased. But are what is shown and what actually happens always the same? For example, when a woman wants to become a mother and advance her career as a businesswoman, she faces many institutional obstacles. Woman, don't go home after dark When he walks whenever he wants, he always carries fear and anxiety inside him. A woman is interested in a profession that society describes as a "male profession", and as she progresses, she encounters greater prejudice with every step she takes. These examples are just some of the problems that women frequently experience today, and they show us that there are still important ways to go.

Whether it is a woman who manages a large company after years of training, a woman who sells booties she makes at home, or a mother to a living creature. women constitute humble examples of the concept of "working woman". Being able to fight for the rights you currently have, despite the negative consequences, and realizing that you have the key to not being trapped in the box of "gender roles" means supporting women who have struggled on this path for years and still continue to struggle. Let's not forget that no flower bouquet can replace this support.
