Our world is going through difficult times. As individuals who protect and protect public health, we stay isolated in our homes.
In these difficult days, on the one hand, we are worried about the news we receive, and on the other hand, we think about how to keep ourselves busy. Even though our homes are safe shelters and happy living spaces for us and our children, the items and substances in our homes can create dangerous areas that we are not aware of.

So, how aware are we of the dangers in our homes? ? I tried to compile it for you.

Approximately 5-15% of the applications to pediatric emergency departments are poisonings, and 80-85% of these are accidents. The majority of accidental poisonings occur in children
under 5 years of age. Unfortunately, poisoning of younger children occurs as a result of the carelessness of family members and, of course, the curiosity of our little individual.
One of the important duties of our parents is to introduce dangerous areas at home to our children and ensure their protection. However, it is generally easier to implement this task by imposing prohibitions, obstacles and penalties
. I wonder how many of you are aware that when we say 'don't go, you'll be hot' to the little fingers going towards the electrical outlet, we create the desire to go more?

Hot, electrical devices

Their warmth and light are attractive to children. may come. Stoves, electrically burning objects, and heat radiators are generally dangers that attract our children. Children fail to guess that such items are hot and try to touch them. Generally, after the age of 2, we should teach these items and their dangers by talking and showing them when we are together.

Cutting tools

When the repair kits, which are among children's toys, are encountered with the realities of home appliances, the attraction of incomparable danger emerges. Using these types of devices under your
control as much as possible will help them differentiate and prevent dangers to some extent.

Bathroom

Your child will not be afraid of water, will not be alarmed in water, will not be able to hold his breath under water. In order to teach the child, it will be useful to practice by turning baths into games and pouring water little by little over the head.

Toxic substances

Taking toxic substances in amounts that harm the body through various means is called poisoning
. It is one of the important dangers that children face. Medicines, cleaning materials, paints, adhesives, some flowers are some of them. Poisonings usually occur in the afternoon and evening, when everyone is busy. In order to prevent it, it would be useful to keep such
materials in locked cabinets and out of reach as much as possible.

If the situations we fear occur, we should go to a health institution as soon as possible

In case of injuries or skin contact with toxic substances, you must clean the wound area with soap and water beforehand. If we suspect contact with chemicals, you should definitely take the boxes with you, if any. If such substances are ingested or consumed, you should not induce vomiting in any way. If a toxic substance is inhaled, you should definitely take it out to fresh air.

I wish you all accident-free and healthy days.
