The conditions in which the normal curvature of the spine is disrupted is called scoliosis. Sideways bending and rotation occur in the spine. This bending of the spine can be 'C' or 'S' shaped. In advanced cases, depending on this change in the spine, the volume of the thorax decreases and complaints about breathing occur. It is a condition seen in 2% to 4% of the society. It is about 8 times more common in girls than boys.
IDIOPATHIC SCOLIOSIS:
It is the most common type. In addition to curving sideways in the spine, rotation of the vertebrae is also seen in all idiopathic scoliosis, including the mildest forms. An asymmetrical posture occurs in the waist and back.
NEUROMUSCULAR SCOLIOSIS:
Muscle or nerve diseases may be among the main causes. Respiratory distress and sensory defects are more common in this type of scoliosis.
CONGENITAL SCOLIOSIS
It is a type of scoliosis that develops due to spinal anomalies that occur during the development of the child in the womb. It shows rapid progress. For this reason, it requires surgical intervention at a young age.
Symptoms:
Shoulder, scapula and pelvis bone that do not stand at an equal level when viewed from the outside
One of the hips is seen higher than the one
sideward in the spine curvature
Long-term neck, back and low back pain
Treatment:
The treatment is applied according to the degree of curvature in the treatment of scoliosis. For scoliosis between 10-20 degrees, specific scoliosis exercises (scroth-FITS SEAS), corset and exercise therapy at 20 degrees and above, and surgical evaluation at 40-45 degrees and above.

Treatment In untreated scoliosis patients, low back and back pain, nerve damage, and various problems related to organs such as heart-lung in later periods are revealed.
