Managing Our Stress

Dear readers, we encounter many stressful events in our daily lives. However, some people are able to relax and calm themselves without being distracted by the stress they experience. Others, on the other hand, do not know how to cope with stressful life events and take their distress out of their loved ones.

Stress at a normal level allows us to concentrate on what we are doing at that moment. However, excessive stress affects people's physical health negatively.

People with certain personality traits experience more stress and it is very difficult to compensate for this stress. These personality traits are;

• High level of trait anxiety

• Increased in line with pain such as anxiety and anger, mood

• Continuously complete, perfect, full and the effort to appear competent

• Attempt to turn obsessive and obsessive thoughts into action

• Excessive, unending expectations and demands

• Dependence on principles, rules, even a prisoner of them

• Not finding enough work and effort, not being productive

• Excessive effort and tendency to work

My suggestions for coping with stress;

- Half an hour of walking, jogging, swimming, basketball and similar activities on certain days of the week contribute directly to our physical and mental state. In people who exercise, alertness increases, muscles and mind relax, quality of sleep increases, anxiety decreases, self-confidence increases, the risk of heart disease decreases.

- Correct breathing is also effective in coping with stress. The first step in the correct breathing exercise called diaphragmatic breathing is to place your right palm just below your navel and your left hand on your chest. Then, with a deep breath in through your nose, feel your belly swell, wait for a short time, exhale through your mouth twice as long as you inhale, and repeat this 3-4 times in a row. Tell yourself relax. Also try to be happy with small successes. Do not expect performance beyond your capacity.
