How should we plan the holiday for our child?

The much-anticipated summer vacation has finally arrived. In this article, I wanted to answer the question of how our child should spend summer vacation.

Make a plan for summer vacation.

Expectations of mother, father and child about summer vacation. They may be different from each other, so making a plan first can prevent disappointments and conflicts during the holiday period.

Children's thoughts first.

In this planning, the priority is for the child to be on holiday. It should be about learning what they want to do. Asking for their opinions on the time they spend watching television, playing the computer or spending time with their friends will make them feel valuable. Apart from these fun things, his thoughts can be asked about sports activities, musical instruments or branches of art in which he wants to improve himself.

Then the expectations of the family.

After discussing the child's thoughts and dreams about summer, the family's expectations about summer should be presented. Movies you want to watch together, places you want to visit and see (museums-toy museum, science center) can be discussed. If there are tests and homework that teachers want to be done for the summer period, the child's planning and ideas on this subject can be taken. Programs that will be made in the form of tasks first and then entertainment during the holiday period can be implemented more easily for the child.

Understanding their expectations does not mean removing all boundaries.

Talking about our child's expectations will cause him to watch television for hours. , does not mean letting the computer play. More flexible and increased hours can be given compared to the school period, but there should be limits.

The balance of entertainment and education should be well established.

Summer vacation is an enjoyable and entertaining time for the child. There must be a time period. While providing education, it is important to present it in an entertaining way and to encourage learning through experience and living. In this regard, summer schools that include both education and entertainment in their program can be a good alternative.

Skill areas can be discovered.

In areas where they are interested or feel skilled. Home activities or courses that will improve themselves can be considered. The confidence and skills they gain here will make them better.

Reading time can be considered.

Family reading hours can be implemented by selecting books that they find enjoyable and want to read. Time can be allocated for activities that will develop their imagination and games to be played as a family.

They can gain responsibility thanks to a holiday away from the family.

Children can spend time with a close relative or friend that their family deems appropriate. They can go on holiday with him, even for a short time. He can prove to himself and his family how much he has grown with the responsibilities they will take on here (making the bed, helping to set and remove the table, coming home at the given time, etc.).

I wish everyone a happy and pleasant holiday. Best wishes…
